SOAR ASAP @Harford is a student success and completion program designed to help students earn a degree with less stress and more support.
Built on the nationally recognized Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) model, SOAR ASAP combines personalized advising, financial assistance, and a strong sense of community to help students stay on track, achieve goals, and confidently navigate the college experience.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT
- Dedicated advisor: Partner with a dedicated advisor who supports you from enrollment to graduation through SOAR’s personal, proactive approach. Your advisor will check in regularly, help you stay on track, and connect you to resources as you build time management, problem-solving, and self-advocacy skills. You’ll have steady support every step of the way.
- Academic Workshops: Participate in structured workshops on study skills, time management, and academic success strategies to build strong foundations for college achievement.
- Tutoring: Engage in one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to strengthen your academic skills and build confidence.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Career Exploration & Planning: Discover career paths, connect with local employers, and gain real-world experience.
- Professional Development: Participate in workshops and opportunities that build your resume and prepare you for success after graduation.
- Success Coaching: Develop essential life skills—from time management to goal setting—with individual and group coaching.
- Community: Connect with a supportive network of peers who share your goals and celebrate your success along the way.
- Leadership Opportunities: Participate in student leadership, peer mentoring, and community-building programming to build skills, strengthen confidence, and boost your resume.
- Transfer Support: Receive support and guidance in transitioning to a 4-year college after graduation.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
For students with demonstrated financial hardship 
- Transportation: $50 each month to help cover the cost of getting to campus.
- Book Stipend: $140 toward purchase of course materials
- Tuition Gap Scholarship: $175
Those in the SOAR ASAP program must have:
- declared a qualifying major 
 (nursing, dual enrollment, and certificate programs are not eligible)
- no more than two semesters of developmental courses
- earned a high school diploma or equivalency
- no more than 21 program-applicable college credits earned or in progress when accepted into the SOAR ASAP program (does not include credits earned through dual enrollment)
To stay in the SOAR ASAP program, students must:
- be a full time student, attempting a minimum of 24 credits per academic year, including summer
- apply for financial aid via FAFSA®: studentaid.gov; 
 Pell-eligible students or those with financial need are encouraged to apply
- attend all required individual or group meetings. First-semester SOAR ASAP students must have 2 touchpoints with the program per month, per your SOAR ASAP syllabus.
- Participate in one career services program/activity per semester
- Attend tutoring and academic workshops as recommended by advisor.
- Attend 3 SOAR-sponsored events each semester.
