When the Brooklyn Botanic Garden was founded more than a century ago, NYC was quickly being developed into a cityscape of buildings and paved roads. Creating a public garden was one way to ensure that some green space remained. Today, the Garden has come to represent the very best in urban gardening and horticultural display. Enjoy time exploring at your own pace through bonsai museums, conservatories, outdoor gardens, and aquatic terraces. Then, learn about costal defense by climbing to the top of the WWII Lookout Tower and 1859 Cape May Lighthouse. End your day with two hours of free time shopping at the Washington Street Mall. The USS Constellation is a sloop-of-war, the last sail-only warship designed and built by the US Navy. Tour this historic ship before walking along the Inner Harbor to visit the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse. Experience 19th century life with one of the most impressive collections of military vessels in the world as we take in the docked fleet. Please note that due to the nature of the ships, all travelers must be able to climb stairs. A limited lunch menu has been developed by McCormick and Schmick’s restaurant. Start your day with a visit to the Cumberland Visitor Center, then hop aboard the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad! There is a 90-minute layover in Frostburg where you can explore the town’s shops before re-boarding the steam engine train for the return trip down the mountain.
