Child Care

If you are patient, kind, and love interacting with children as they explore the world and discover how they fit into it, an exciting and rewarding career in childcare may be a good fit for you. Those in this field are teachers and caregivers and thrive on helping to shape the minds of the littlest students.

Harford Comunity College offers a variety of noncredit courses that meet licensing requirements as per the Office of Child Care (OCC).  Multiple credentials are available including the 90-hour certificate program which meets OCC requirements for lead teachers in the State of Maryland.

What Can I Do When I Complete This Program?

Students completing this program  can be employed as teachers or administrators in child care programs.



According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the child care industry is anticipated to grow by about 2% between 2018 and 2028. While the child care workers in 2020 was $25,460 a year, the median pay for child care directors was $49,160.*
