    HIRE Harford's Investment in Real-world Education

    If you're 18-24 years old, the HIRE program at Harford Community College combines certification-based workforce training with wrap-around supports, ensuring student success from program to career.

    Qualified students get everything they need to get started: fully funded workforce training PLUS support and skills in career exploration, life management, financial literacy, basic computers, and job readiness.

    INFORMATION SESSIONS

    All in-person sessions are held at Harford's Workforce Training Center at Water's Edge | 4690 Millenium Dr., Belcamp, MD 21017. If you are attending a virtual session, you will receive an email prior to the event that includes the link to login.

    Eligibility Requirements

    To qualify, students need to be between the ages of 18-24 and meet one of the following criteria

    • have a mental, physical, or learning disability (ie. anxiety, School IEP/504, ADHD, dyslexia)
    • are homeless
    • are a parent, are parenting, or are pregnant
    • are subject to juvenile or adult justice system
    • are currently in, or have aged out of, foster care system
    • your family and/or self are currently receiving public assistance (Food stamps/SNAP or TCA)
    • have dropped out or aged-out of high school and need your GED®
    • are a low-income youth and who requires additional assistance to complete an educational program, or to secure and hold employment.
    Steps to Enroll
    1. RSVP and attend an Information Session.
    2. Schedule a one-on-one interview to learn about your goals, interests, and supports you may need.
    3. Complete a Career Research Exercise.
    4. Schedule a placement test. 
    5. Once you're accepted into the program, attend an intake/enrollment meeting.
