Welding Certification

A career in welding is for those who are detail oriented, have adaptability, and manual dexterity. It takes both skill and practice to become proficient in this field.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This program introduces students to the basic skills, equipment, and accessories of
welding. Students learn about safety practices and understanding welding symbols,
as well as gain hands-on experience. Students learn about all types of welding: Gas
Metal Arc Welding (GMAW or MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW or TIG), Shielded
Metal Arc Welding (SMAW or Stick), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW, and Oxyfuel Cutting
(OFC). Students who complete the full program may attempt a weld test aligned with
AWS D1.1 structural welding codes for a qualification document recognized by AWS.

IA 1237 Arc Welding Fundamentals
IA 1247 Intermediate Welding

12 weeks (in class time)
1 semester

Qualification Document recognized by AWS to D1.1 Standards

What's Next?
Students completing Harford's Welding Certification program are trained to begin working on job sites where welding is required. They may continue to earn certifications to advance their careers, perform more complex welding jobs, or specialize in a specific are of welding.
