If you're ready to take your HR skills to the next level (SHRM Certification), or are just beginning your HR career and need basic knowledge in HR (SHRM Essentials), we have a course for you. Harford Community College is recognized by SHRM® to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertifications activities, including a SHRM Certification Test Preparation course. Earning your SHRM-CP® (Certified Professional) or SHRM-SCP® (Senior Certified Professional) credential makes you a recognized expert and leader in the HR field—and a valuable asset to your organization, keeping you and your organization more competitive in today's economy. This professional distinction sets you apart from your colleagues, proving your high level of knowledge and skills. The SHRM® Certification Preparation course covers the entire Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (BASK) which encourages HR professionals to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to effectively perform their jobs and achieve career success. Upon completion of the course, you are prepared to take the Certified Professional (CP) or the Senior CP (s)CP exam. HR Essentials is for those just starting out in the human resources profession or more seasoned professionals looking to boost their employee management skills. Students must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED® to register.

COURSES REQUIRED TO COMPLETE PROGRAM:
HR 1055 - SHRM® Certification Exam Preparation
AND/OR
HR 1054 - SHRM® Essentials of Human Resources

Taking both courses is not required. Students may choose to take both courses or independently. SHRM Certification Exam Preparation is recommended for seasoned professionals seeking career advancement. SHRM Essentials of Human Resources is recommended for individuals new to HR responsibilities.

What's Next?

Upon completion of the certifications, students are qualified to obtain employment as a human resources manager or generalist, or as a compensation and benefits analyst or talent acquisition specialist.
