Theresa B. Felder, EdD
Dr. Theresa B. Felder serves as the 10th president of Harford Community College, bringing over 25 years of leadership experience in higher education, workforce development, and student success. Since joining Harford in 2021, Dr. Felder has led the institution with a strong commitment to expanding educational access, fostering student success, and strengthening community partnerships.
Dr. Felder began her professional career in corporate accounting before becoming an independent consultant, specializing in job readiness and employment training. She earned her doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership from Northeastern University, a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Syracuse University.
Since becoming president at Harford Community College, Dr. Felder has made a significant impact in the community. She has been honored by The Baltimore Sun as one of the 25 Women to Watch: Best in Advocacy, Business, and Health, and recognized by I95 Business as one of the Women of Influence in Higher Education. She received the 2023 Paragon Award for New Presidents by the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society and was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record.
Dr. Felder actively participates in the community and serves on various nonprofit boards, including the Harford County Chamber of Commerce, the Harford County Economic Development Advisory Board, the Susquehanna Workforce Network (SWN), the Northeastern Maryland Technology Council (NMTC), University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, the University of Maryland Medical System, the Harford Business Roundtable for Education, the Harford Leadership Academy, and the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC).
Throughout her career, Dr. Felder has been recognized for her collaborative leadership, strategic vision, and unwavering dedication to student success. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes the transformative power of education to uplift individuals, strengthen families, and positively impact communities.
A passionate advocate for the mission of community colleges, Dr. Felder is committed to ensuring Harford Community College remains a catalyst for educational achievement, economic mobility, and workforce development in Harford County and the region. Her focus is on advancing student-centered practices, fostering innovation in academic and career programs, and promoting equity and inclusion across the College.
Dr. Felder and her husband, Greg, live in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Their son, Gregory, lives in Largo and works for the World Bank in Washington, DC. Their daughter, Taylor, is a graduate student at Butler University and resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.
