Harford Community College to Offer Adult Mental Health First Aid Training

03 June 2025

Learn how to assist others who may be experiencing a mental health or substance abuse challenge in a one-day online course through Harford Community College. Harford will offer three sessions of Adult Mental Health First Aid Training on Saturday, June 7, June 21, or July 19. Each course consists of 2 hours of self-paced content followed by 5.5 hours of instructor-led training.

Developed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and the Mental Health Association of Maryland, this early-intervention, public education program teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally and give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing one, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services.

The course is beneficial for those 18+ years, including social workers, police, faith- and non-faith-based support groups, and anyone wanting to assist family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.

Register here for online classes starting June 7 (with pre-work beginning as early as May 31), June 21 (with pre-work beginning as early as June 7) or July 19 (with pre-work beginning as early as July 5).
