DXI Construction Fitness Center
Located in the Susquehanna Center on the Harford Community College campus, the DXI Construction Fitness Center is a full service, state-of-the-art fitness center.
Students are admitted with their Harford student ID. The Center offers individual exercise program instruction to both full- and part-time students. Initial program consults are scheduled by appointment, and individual exercise programs are designed to facilitate independent Fitness Center usage. Access to the Fitness Center varies by semester.
Fall and Spring Semester Schedule
Fall hours start the first day of the semester and Spring hours start at the beginning
of January.
Monday—Thursday: 12:30—5:30 PM
Friday: 8 AM—4 PM
Summer Schedule
Start the first Monday in June
Monday—Friday: 11:30AM—4 PM
The Fitness Center will be closed when campus is closed. Please take note of anticipated modifications and closings that will be posted on the front door of the Fitness Center and sent out on Campus Announcements to Faculty/Staff and students. Access after-hours is PROHIBITED to the general community.
The Harford Community College Fitness Center is a shared educational and recreational facility that provides an opportunity for students and employees to engage in health and wellness activities within a supportive and respectful environment. All users are expected to follow these guidelines, use equipment responsibly, and treat fellow patrons and staff with respect. Together, we can maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for everyone.
Respect & Conduct
- Headphones must be used when using personal devices for music.
- Phone calls must be taken outside.
- All personal items (ex. Backpacks, extra clothing etc.) must be placed in provided cubbies.
- Profanity, fighting, lewd, and any other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
Access & Safety
- Only current Harford students and employees may utilize the fitness center. Guests
are not permitted.
- Access to the fitness center during open recreational hours is based on current enrollment and applicable academic-term eligibility:
- Winter: January 1-31
- Spring Semester: January 1- June 30
- Summer Semester: May 1-August 31
- Fall Semester: July 1-December 31

- A valid physical Harford ID must be presented and swiped in upon entry. No one will be permitted without a valid Harford ID.
- Anyone caught lending their Harford ID to another person so they may gain access to the fitness center is subject to being reported and potentially losing access to facility.
- Appropriate athletic attire must be worn at all times. Shirts/tops and bottoms must provide adequate coverage and be appropriate for physical activity.
- Closed-toe, closed-heel athletic shoes with appropriate traction must be worn at all times in the fitness area, including stretching areas. Sandals, slides, slippers, bare feet, socks, and other non-athletic footwear are not permitted.
- The fitness center is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings. Fitness staff will not monitor or watch personal belongings for patrons.
- Users are responsible for using the fitness center and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. If medical assistance is warranted, appropriate medical personnel will be contacted.
- Only trained and authorized fitness center staff may provide personal training. Patrons may not conduct personal training or provide paid exercise instruction within the facility.
- Photography, video recording, and livestreaming must respect the privacy of other patrons and staff. Do not record or photograph another individual without their permission.
Facility & Equipment
- Wipe down equipment after usage. Cleaning stations are provided throughout the fitness center.
- When finished, return equipment to where it belongs.
- Water or sports drinks must be in a sealed container. Food is not permitted in the fitness center.
- Dispose of all trash and recycling in the proper bins.
- Weight plates, dumbbells, kettlebells, and other equipment must be handled in a controlled manner. Do not drop, slam, or throw weights unless the equipment is specifically designed for that purpose and the area is designated for it.
Enforcement
Fitness center staff are responsible for enforcing these guidelines and may address unsafe or inappropriate behavior at any time. Staff may deny entry, require an individual to discontinue an activity, or ask an individual to leave the fitness center for failure to follow the rules. Repeated or serious violations may result in suspension or loss of fitness center privileges and/or referral to the appropriate College department.

It is located in the Susquehanna building, across from the pool.

If the Fitness Center is locked, how do I gain access?
If the doors are locked, the Fitness Center is closed, and you cannot gain access.
I am faculty/staff that possesses an access code, can I use the Facility when it is
closed?
No, no one is authorized to use the Fitness Center for liability reasons when the
fitness center is closed.
Are there rules and user guidelines for the Fitness Center?
Yes, everyone is expected to comply with posted rules and standard gym etiquette.
Can I wear bring my own speakers or listen to music without headphones?
No, not everyone enjoys the same type of music. This is not considerate of others
and can disrupt others ability to focus and workout. If you want to listen to your
own music you must wear headphones.
What type of dress/attire is authorized?
Appropriate athletic attire and closed-toe, closed-heel athletic shoes must be worn
at all times in all fitness areas; sandals, slides, slippers, bare feet, socks, and
other non-athletic footwear are not permitted.
Is there a place to store my things during my work out?
Yes, lockers are available in the locker rooms. Please bring your own lock, but any
locks left on overnight will be cut and discarded. There are cubbies located in the
fitness center which can be used as well.
Can I bring and use my own Fitness Equipment at the Fitness Center?
Yes, as long as it doesn't damage existing equipment or structures, you can use it
at your own risk.
Is there risk of injury?
Yes, just as there is with any exercise, the use of equipment and participation in
physical activities do involve risk of injury and even death. You agree that your
use of the Fitness Center is at your own risk and you assume full responsibility for
all risks arising from your use of the Fitness Center.
Can I safely begin exercise or should I check with my doctor first?
If you have a physical or medical condition, impairment, disease, illness, or any
other reason of concern that you feel you should not engage in physical activity,
then you should consult your physician or qualified healthcare provided before beginning
an exercise program.
