Health and Well-being
At Harford, we recognize that mental, emotional, and physical health contribute not only to your overall well-being, but to your academic success.
We provide the support, resources, programming, and facilities to address the general well-being of all of our students. We also partner with local community organizations to provide extended services where needed. Familiarize yourself with what we offer and feel free to reach when and where you need it.
Well-being Resources
On-Site/Remote Counseling
On-site/remote counseling is a free, confidential, appointment-based, short-term support service. Counseling sessions allow you to explore thoughts, feelings and worries without judgment; develop coping strategies for different situations; practice self-reflection and awareness; work on habits you’d like to change; and improve, understand, and communicate about relationships.
TimelyCare
Through our partnership with TimelyCare, students have free, confidential, 24/7 access to remote, short-term counseling, virtual care, self-care resources, and well-being tools. Students should familiarize themselves with the service and sign-up early so they have access when they need them.
Food Pantry
No One Should Have to Choose Between Going to College and Having Food on the Table. Harford Community College recognizes that food scarcity is a reality for many, and the on-campus food pantry, located in the Student Center, is open to all students and staff. The pantry offers a wide variety of items to support everyday needs, including shelf-stable, frozen, and refrigerated items, toiletries and personal care products, and recipe meal kits for individuals and families.* No appointment is needed.
Cozy Closet
Self-confidence starts with how you feel and having access to the right clothing plays a big part in that. The Cozy Closet is an on-campus resource located in the Student Center and available to all students and staff. We offer a wide range of items from casual wear to professional attire (suits, blazers, dresses), winter coats to accessories like ties, belts, and shoes. There is even space to try on clothing and see what works best for your needs—all at no cost.* No appointment is needed.
* We rely on donations to keep these services accessible. All items are subject to availability.
Wellness Kiosk
Access to everyday wellness essentials should be simple, private, and within reach. The Wellness Kiosk is a self-service, on-campus resource located on the first floor of the Library. It provides students and staff with direct, confidential access to over-the-counter medical necessities and is available during Library hours. No consultation or administrative sign-off is required. The kiosk is stocked with essential personal, reproductive, and healthcare-related products, all subject to availability.
Relaxation Room
Sometimes the campus buzz can be a little too much. The Relaxation Room, located on the first floor of the Student Center, offers a private, tranquil space for students and staff to relax, pray, meditate, or simply be alone in thought.
Lactation Space
Private, dedicated spaces are available across campus to ensure nursing mothers feel comfortable and supported. Lactation spaces are available in Darlington Hall, the Library, and the Chesapeake Welcome Center.
Transportation
Enrolled students who ride Harford Transit LINK buses are eligible for 50% off discounts, making commuting to campus more cost-effective. This initiative provides a streamlined, budget-friendly transit alternative to ensure reliable and accessible transportation to the campus during the academic year.
Short-Term Financial Assistance
Emergency financial support is accessible for students facing unexpected hardships. Resources such as grocery gift cards and the Student Emergency Assistance (SEA) funds are available to help students with immediate, short-term needs. They are distributed on an as-needed basis and subject to funding availability.
Need Additional Resources?
Comprehensive information regarding campus programming, community partnerships, and additional student support is accessible via OwlNet, the student online portal. Select the Well-being Services | STU card. For specific requests and resources, students should complete a Student Wellbeing Request Form and view further resource details.
