Commencement 2022

Harford Community College will hold its Sixty-Fourth Annual Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 26.

The ceremony will recognize all August and December graduates and May candidates for graduation in the College’s associate degree and certificate programs. Official invitations were emailed to the graduates on Friday, April 15 and mailed during the week of April 18.

After much consideration and to ensure the safety of our graduates, their families and friends, and our employees, the Commencement Planning Committee has decided that two ceremonies will be held this year.

On May 26, 2022, ceremonies will be held at 2 PM and 6 PM in the APGFCU Arena for graduates of the following divisions:

  • A 2 PM ceremony for graduates of the Arts and Humanities and the Behavioral and Social Sciences divisions.
  • A 6 PM ceremony for graduates of the Business and Applied Technology, Nursing and Allied Health Professions, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math divisions.

  • Visit the Academic Catalog, Programs of Study if you need assistance determining which  division applies to you.

These will be ticketed events. Students will be required to RSVP if they plan to attend their Commencement ceremony and will be permitted to bring guests. In order to RSVP for Commencement, students must first apply for graduation. The form to RSVP (see link below in Important Dates) also reserves your complimentary cap and gown. Each graduate will receive six (6) guest tickets. Guest tickets will be distributed with your cap and gown between May 2-13 at the College Bookstore. Additional guest tickets can be requested beginning May 2 by calling Harford Community College's Box Office at 443-412-2211 or email ticketing@harford.edu. We will continue offering additional tickets as supplies last, but no later than May 20. Please see the Ticketing FAQ dropdown below for additional information.

Graduates unable to attend the in-person ceremony but would like to have their photograph included in the ceremony, should upload their photo using the link included in the Important Dates chart no later than May 17.

The College will close at Noon on May 26 to prepare for Commencement. The ceremonies will be livestreamed and recorded versions will be available for viewing on our website at a later date. Please find Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) below for further Commencement information. Please contact the Commencement Planning Committee tri-chairs at Commencement@harford.edu or call the Box Office at 443.412.2211 with any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Graduation refers to the conferring of an academic degree. At Harford Community College, you must meet specific requirements in order to graduate, and you must apply for graduation. Commencement is an optional College-sponsored ceremony in which graduating students dress in regalia, process, and are formally conferred a degree or certification. In order to participate in the Commencement ceremony, you must meet all graduation requirements and reserve a spot in the ceremony.

The college provides caps and gowns to all students that RSVP to commencement.  Regalia will be able to be picked up at the bookstore May 2-13, 2022. For hours, visit bookstore.harford.edu. The college pays for the cap and gown unless the student does not RSVP by May 2.

While it is not the practice of the College to encourage the decoration or messaging of caps at the Commencement ceremony, if it is your intention to do so, please do it tastefully and with respect for the dignity of the occasion. The College holds Commencement to celebrate the academic achievements of all of the graduates of the Class of 2022. We ask that you recognize it as a formal and prestigious occasion and to hold the event in proper perspective.

  • Students should arrive at the auxiliary gym in Susquehanna, 1 hour before their ceremony start time.
  • We recommend that graduates dress semi-casual or semi-formal depending on your level of comfort walking across the stage and being recorded/photographed wearing. Gowns are blue.
  • For students unable to attend their ceremony, we will accept photo submissions to be recognized during the recorded ceremony.

Graduates will all receive 6 guest tickets when picking up their cap & gown at the College Store.

Additional guest tickets can be requested beginning May 2 by calling Harford Community College’s Box Office at 443-412-2211 or email ticketing@harford.edu.  Graduates can also stop by the box office located in the Chesapeake Center.  Box office hours are Tuesday – Thursday 10 am – 3 pm.  If calling outside of these hours, please leave a message and provide your name, phone number, your ceremony time, and how many tickets you are requesting.  A staff member will return your call or email as soon as possible.

We will continue offering additional tickets as supplies last.  The deadline to request additional tickets is Friday, May 20.

For Family unable to travel or for those with large families, the event will be livestreamed.
