CompTIA logo Security+ is one of the most valuable certifications in the industry, and with cyber threats increasing every day, cybersecurity professionals are in high demand.

CompTIA® Security+ is considered an intermediate-level certification and presumes you have a basic understanding of networking principles. From entry-level employment to advanced careers, this certification is often considered a requirement for entry-level and advanced career placement. It is DoD 8570-M approved and required to work for a government agency. Earning a CompTIA® Security+ certification is a good way to quickly enter the IT field.

Course

Fundamentals of Network Security 
OR
Security+ Certification Exam Prep

The curriculum for Fundamentals of Network Security presumes some prior knowledge of IT concepts and terms, especially networking concepts. This course provides a foundation of knowledge in protecting network service, devices, traffic, and data. You'll learn about network security, compliance and operating security, threats and vulnerabilities, as well as application, data, and host security. Also included are access control, identity management, and cryptography.  

What can I do when I complete this program?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be qualified to work as a:

  • Computer Support Technician
  • Helpdesk Support
  • Information assurance technician

Students may also pursue a certificate or AAS degree in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity.
