Harford's HVAC/R program prepares students for entry-level positions in the HVAC industry in under 12 months. Many of our hands-on classes take place in simulated work environments so you get the skills and experience you need to attract employers and find in-demand job opportunities. The training at Harford Community College is fast-tracked and career-focused so you can move more quickly into the working world.
For those interested in the HVAC Apprenticeship program but missed the cut-off date for applications, this program gives you a head start. Complete the program, apply for next year's apprenticeship class, and you may qualify to enter the HVAC Apprenticeship program as a second-year student. No time lost and lots to gain!
COURSES REQUIRED TO COMPLETE PROGRAM:
TD 1038 Basic Refrigeration*
TD 1040 Comfort Cooling
TD 1039 Heating Systems
TD 1041 Electrical for HVAC Technicians
ET 1119 Preparation for Refrigerant Recovery Certification**
ET 1243 Refrigerant Recovery Exam
*Students must take Basic Refrigeration first except that students can take Comfort Cooling simultaneously.
** Students must register for both Preparation for Refrigerant Recovery Certification and Refrigerant Recovery Exam.

What's Next?
After completing the HVAR/R Certificate program, students may find work in the HVAC industry assisting technicians, or transfer to the HVAC apprenticeship program for additional training.
