The Microsoft Office Specialist (associate-level) program prepares students to take the Microsoft certification exams needed and learn the skills needed to succeed across all industries.

This training program provides participants with the skills to pass any three of the five possible Microsoft application exams: MO-100 (Word), MO-200(Excel), MO-300(PowerPoint) and/or MO-400 (Outlook) and earn the cumulative credential of a Microsoft Office Specialist. Those with an MOS designation show current and future employers that they have demonstrated command of the full features and functionality of Microsoft Office.

Program Overview


Microsoft Office Associate Specialist (MOS) is an industry-issued certification. The exam is not administered as a part of this course. The exam is scheduled by participants after completing the course. Testing is available for enrolled students at Harford Community College Certiport Test Center. Exam vouchers are available to students at academic pricing or may be included in the price of the course. 


Option One: Microsoft Office Specialist, Associate-Level Exam Prep

  • This all-inclusive course is offered in an online, self-paced format. The curriculum prepares students for MO-100(Word), MO-200 (Excel), and MO-300 (PowerPoint)

Option Two: In-person courses are available for each application

  • Word Exam Prep for MOS (MO-100)
  • Excel Exam Prep for MOS (MO-200)
  • PowerPoint Exam Prep for MOS (MO-300)
  • Outlook Exam Prep for MOS (MO-400)

These certifications provide participants a competitive advantage in the job market.  According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the median salary range for an administrative support role is $32,830-$43,000.00 annually.
