Phoenix Festival Theatre to Hold Auditions for Mary Poppins

Phoenix Festival Theatre (PFT) will hold auditions for Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins on Monday, November 16 and Tuesday, November 17, at 6:45 p.m. in the Chesapeake Theater located in the Chesapeake Welcome Center at Harford Community College.  Callbacks on Wednesday, November 18 are by invitation only. If requested, all invited actors must attend in-person callbacks to be considered for that specific role.

Performance dates are March 5-7 and 12-14, 2027. The show will be directed by Sheila Kahle. The musical director is Jarrett Rettman.

Auditions are open to adults and youth. There are two kid's roles: one girl, approximately 11 years of age and one boy, approximately 9 years of age that will be double cast.

Cast 13 Years of Age and Up

All roles are unpaid and non-equity. No roles are precast; all roles are available.

Child Actors

Please note: Youth ages 9 to 16 are video-only auditions. Submit video audition by 5 p.m. on November 15. If requested, all invited actors must attend in-person callbacks on November 18 to be considered for that specific role.

Video submissions are welcome. Send submissions to bwhaley@harford.edu by 5 p.m. on November 15. Late submissions and auditionees without a completed audition form will not be reviewed.

Audition Information

Phoenix Festival Theatre welcomes and encourages performers of all demographics to attend auditions.

Please bring a backing track. There will be a device to play your accompaniment. An accompanist will NOT be provided.

Please wear comfortable clothing and if you can tap, bring your tap shoes! You will learn a basic dance and tap combination.

Not receiving a callback does not automatically mean you have not been cast. Casting will be completed on or before December 1. You will be notified either way. If you receive an offer for a role, you will have 48 hours to accept. We will assume you are not interested if we do not hear from you after 48 hours.

Audition forms should be completed prior to audition. If unable to complete the form prior, arrive early to complete it. A picture of you will be taken that evening to help with casting. Sign up for your audition slot here.

Production Information

First rehearsal is TBD. Tech week will be February 15 - March 4, 2027. Once the rehearsal schedule is established, cast members are expected to be present for all rehearsals for which they are called. No conflicts will be accepted during the second week of tech week (February 26 – March 4, 2027).

Please carefully review your availability before auditioning. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be part of this extraordinary story, but we also need to ensure that every cast member can make the commitment this unique production requires.
