A Ceremony of Celebration for Workforce Training Grads at Harford Community College

A Ceremony of Completion for 42 Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Scholarship recipients was held on August 13 at the Chesapeake Conference Center on the Harford Community College campus. The ceremony recognized the achievement of students completing Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Scholarship programs.
The graduates completed programs such as NCCER Core Certification, Forklift Certification Training, Certified Logistics Technician (CLT 4.0), Welding Certification, and Basic Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
The career progression varies from completer to completer, with the ultimate result being gainful employment, promotion, salary increase, or pursuit of complementary certification training.
Dr. Theresa B. Felder, Harford Community College President, delivered opening remarks and welcomed the completers and their guests. Daeveyonna Miles and Shelley Newell, Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Scholarship recipients, were the student speakers. Dr. Stuart Savin, Associate Vice President of Workforce and Continuing Education at Harford Community College, gave closing remarks.
A reception for students and guests followed the ceremony.

The goal of programs funded by Ratcliffe Scholarships is to train students in high-demand skilled trade areas that enable them to secure living wage employment and/or to provide business and entrepreneurial skills so they can become self-employed.
Harford Community College offers training programs on its main campus in Bel Air, MD, and at Harford's Workforce Training Center at Water's Edge in Belcamp, MD.
