Harford Community College Alumnus Awarded Harvey Lincoln Student Scholarship

Harford Community College alumnus Darvin Figueroa Cortes ‘25 has been recognized by the Achieving the Dream (ATD) Network and was awarded one of two prestigious 2026 Harvey Lincoln Student Scholarships. Cortes, along with fellow recipient Nicole Anyanah of Montgomery College in Maryland, was awarded $3,000 each in recognition of their collegiate achievements.

The Harvey Lincoln Student Scholarship recognizes students attending ATD Network colleges who are committed to furthering their education despite significant educational, personal, and financial challenges. Harford is a member of the network that today includes more than 300 colleges working to ensure all students can access learning that prepares them for rewarding careers.

Darvin, who moved to the United States from Honduras when he was a teenager, pursued a triple major in nursing, biology, and chemistry at Harford while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. While at Harford, he served as president of the Honors Program and vice president of the Student Nurse Association. He graduated from Harford’s Nursing Program in August 2025. Darvin plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and work in critical care.
