Harford Community College to Hold STEM Day
10 February 2026
Harford Community College will hold its eighth annual STEM Day on Saturday, February 28, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the Chesapeake Welcome Center. There is no charge to attend, and light refreshments will be provided.
STEM Day offers prospective and current students, employers, and anyone with an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) a chance to see how it applies to relevant, real-world learning experiences. The day consists of scientific sessions as well as presentations of professional, graduate, and undergraduate research projects. Hear about Harford's many STEM programs of study and the unique internships and research opportunities available to students.
Keynote speaker Dr. Jason P. Gleghorn, Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Delaware, will discuss “Democratizing discovery: why the next big research breakthrough might come from you.” He earned a Ph.D. in soft tissue mechanics and tissue engineering from Cornell University and completed postdoctoral fellowships in microfluidics and molecular and developmental biology at Cornell University and Princeton University, respectively. Dr. Gleghorn leads an interdisciplinary laboratory focused on advancing clinical therapies for women’s health, pregnancy, cancer, and preterm birth using machine learning and organ-on-chip technologies. Dr. Gleghorn is the co-founder of two companies resulting from research conducted in his lab. He has received national and international recognition for his work, including the March of Dimes Basil O’Connor Award, the Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering Rising Star Award, the Michael Bowman Entrepreneurship and Innovation Award, and the Gerard J. Mangone Young Scholar Award from the Francis Alison Society. Additionally, Dr. Gleghorn is the recipient of an NSF CAREER award, and he has been named a Young Innovator in Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering.
STEM Day is open to all prospective and current students as well as faculty, employers, and anyone interested in the advancement of STEM programs and careers. More details and registration information may be found at the STEM Day website: go.harford.edu/stemday.
