Harford Community College Holds Fall 2025 Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony

A Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony was held in the Chesapeake Theater at Harford Community College on December 19. There were 13 graduates from the program in fall 2025.

The event was hosted by the College’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health Professions with Dr. Amanda Girardi, PhD, RN, CNE, and Dr. Rebecca Diaz, PhD, RN, Directors for Nursing Education; and Dr. Ashley Meisel, DNP, RN, Dean for Nursing and Allied Health Professions.

Congratulatory remarks were offered by Stephanie Watkins, MSN, RN, Assistant Professor for Practical Nursing & Program Coordinator; Dr. Ashley Meisel, Dean for Nursing and Allied Health Professions; and Dr. Diane Ryan, Vice President, Academic Affairs. Watkins presented the pins, and full-time practical nursing faculty Mary Kate Wiegand, MSN, RN, CNE, CCRN, handed the lamps to the graduates. Full-time practical nursing faculty Lena Alban, MS, RN, CNE, read the names of the graduates. Full-time practical nursing faculty Faith Andrews, DNP, RN, CNE, led the graduates and all nurses in the audience as they recited the International Council of Nurses’ Pledge. Full-time practical nursing faculty Sonia Galvan, DNP, RN, CNE, and Mary Kate Wiegand, MSN, RN, CNE, CCRN, presented roses to the graduates.

Two students received recognition awards: Ma. Helena Cristina Duke received the Spalding Leadership Award – Art of Nursing and Sujana Thakulla received the Spalding Leadership Award – Science of Nursing.

The practical nursing students who were pinned during the ceremony included Ma. Helena Cristina Duke, Jessica Hamilton, Krishauna Houston, Lisa Macis, Faith Minter, Jody Ann Minto, Roxana Murray, Doris Ofori, Lanita Robinson, Nicole Roddy, Karen Adriana Suarez, and Sujana Thakulla. Kennedy Udumukwu was unable to attend the ceremony.
