Ribbon Cutting for New Inclusive Playground at Harford Community College’s Early Learning Center

Harford Community College’s Early Learning Center celebrated the opening of its new, inclusive playground on October 22.
The Harford County Chamber of Commerce joined in the celebration by hosting a ribbon cutting to mark the event. Several distinguished guests attended the opening, including Pat Vincenti, Harford County Council President; Harford County Councilmembers Alison Imhoff and Nolanda Robert; Havre de Grace Councilmember Vicki Jones; Harford Community College Trustee Maude CreveCoeur; and Harford Community College Foundation Chair Eric Rebbert. Dr. Theresa Felder, President of Harford Community College, also recognized lead supporters of the new playground including Harford Mutual Insurance Group, American Water Charitable Foundation, Dr. David & Alena Schwaber, and Har-co Credit Union.
Casey Snyder, Executive Director of the Harford Community College Foundation, noted that together with gifts from current Early Learning Center families and ELC "alumni," $100,000 was raised for this new playground.
Harford Community College's littlest Owls explore learning through social, physical, and academic development at the Early Learning Center. In preparation for kindergarten, instructors encourage children of all abilities to develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually while gaining a positive self-image. Their balanced curriculum incorporates the latest technology, including interactive SMART boards in each classroom, along with instruction in language arts, math and science, art, crafts, drama, and story time.
The College’s Early Learning Center, licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education – Office of Child Care, is also fully accredited by the Maryland Accreditation Decision Committee.
