Harford Community College Holds Pinning Ceremony for Summer Nursing Graduates

A Pinning Ceremony for Harford Community College’s summer 2025 associate degree nursing graduates was held on August 19 in the Amoss Center in Bel Air. There were 25 graduates from the program in summer 2025.

The event was hosted by the College’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health Professions with Dr. Ashley Meisel, Dean for Nursing and Allied Health Professions.

Assistant Professor of Nursing Mary Kate Wiegand, MSN, RN, CNE, CCRN, welcomed everyone to the ceremony. Congratulatory remarks were offered by Dr. Meisel and Dr. Theresa B. Felder, President of Harford Community College. Full-time Nursing faculty Deanna Garza, MSN, RN, CNS, and Brandi Robinson, MSN, RN, presented the pins, and Galen Ziegler, MS, RN, CMSRN, CNE, and Gretchen Mirabile, MSN, RN, CPEN, handed the lamps to the graduates. Full-time Nursing faculty Amanda Girardi, PhD, RN, CNE, read the names of the graduates. Full-time Nursing faculty Sonia Galvan, DNP, RN, CNE, led the graduates and all nurses in attendance in reciting the International Council of Nurses’ Pledge. Clinical Nursing Faculty Melissa Milano and Shirl Schultz presented roses to the graduates. Darvin Figueroa Cortes was the graduating class speaker.

In addition to nursing uniforms worn by all graduates, members of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society wore special cords to designate their membership. Two students received recognition awards: William Stevens received the Spalding Leadership Award – Art of Nursing and Darvin Figueroa Cortes received the Spalding Leadership Award – Science of Nursing.

The nursing students who were pinned during the ceremony included Briana Boyd, Lauren Demme Carlson, Sasha Carty Petty, Tia Childress, Hanna Cochran, Maydi Counterman, Saniya Skye Farrington, Darvin Figueroa Cortes, Kerrie Greason, Edyie Gutermuth, Amanda Haga, Alicia Tenea Hutcherson, Carol Wambui Kipp, Raychel Lempitsky, Kassidy Maners, Agnes Njeri Njoroge, Tara O'Neal, Brandi Over, Eunice Owino, Leanna Robinson, William B. Stevens, Izzy Terzioglu, Elena Torchia, Kenna Ward, and Jessica Weatherby.
