Chair and Vice Chair Reelected to Harford Community College Board of Trustees

Brian WalkerBrian Walker has been unanimously elected Chair of the Harford Community College Board of Trustees for a second term and Sharon Markley Schreiber has been unanimously re-elected Vice Chair for 2025-26.

Walker, who formerly served as Vice Chair, was appointed to the Board in 2018. He has over 30 years of business experience, much of it in sales, sales management, and marketing consulting. He has worked primarily in the digital health care industry where, under his guidance, a number of companies have successfully gone public or been acquired.

A native of Joppa, MD, Walker began his postsecondary studies at Essex Community College, later earning a BS in Business Administration from Towson University. He is also a 2010 graduate of the Harvard Business School's Accelerated Leadership Development Program. In addition to his position on the Harford Community College Board of Trustees, Walker is very active with local charities such as the Harford Family House and the Sharing Table.

Sharon Markley SchreiberSharon Markley Schreiber was appointed to the Board in 2020. She is the Executive Director of the Business Roundtable for Education, a nonprofit focused on realizing meaningful, measurable and systemic improvement in schools and student achievement.

Schreiber most recently served as the chief operating officer of the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), a regional economic and civic organization. Her term included serving as interim leader while overseeing the merger of the GBC with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, where she was the COO. Schreiber previously served as director of education and innovation for the Maryland Department of Commerce. She has more than 15 years of experience in education, having served as Vice President for Public Affairs and Strategy at Stevenson University and Special Assistant to the President at Notre Dame of Maryland University. Ms. Schreiber is a 2021 graduate of Leadership Maryland and the 2021 Greater Baltimore Leadership programs and is a member of the Maryland Economic Development Association.

She holds a BA degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University, attended Maryland Institute College of Art and Harford Community College, and completed the Harvard Management and Leadership in Education graduate program in 2013. A Harford County native, Schreiber and her husband currently reside in Aberdeen and have three adult children. Her mother, Marjorie Markley (nee Edwards), was one of four members of the first graduating class of Harford Community College—then Harford Junior College—in 1959.
