Grand Opening at Harford’s New Workforce Training Center at Water’s Edge
25 November 2024
A Grand Opening was held on November 20 to showcase Harford Community College’s new Workforce Training Center at Water’s Edge at 4690 Millennium Drive in Belcamp, MD. This initiative is part of Harford's Vision 2030 strategic plan that includes bringing education and training to areas of Harford County that do not have easy access to the campus. Community and industry partners, including elected officials and local business and community leaders, were in attendance.
The College’s workforce training center is designed to provide Harford County residents with the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to secure jobs with living wages. Currently, Harford offers five programs at the Water’s Edge location: Manufacturing and Production, Automotive Service and Diagnostics, Welding Certification, Pipeline Construction and Operation, and Job Readiness and Customer Service Training. The hands-on programs provide the skills training needed to enter in-demand career fields, often in less than a year. Funding is available to students in these programs.
"This center is designed to support programs in high-demand fields, particularly in skilled trades. More importantly, Water’s Edge strengthens Harford's ties with local businesses and industries, supporting a pipeline of skilled graduates who are prepared to enter the regional workforce,” stated Dr. Theresa B. Felder, President, Harford Community College.
Harford is committed to providing high quality, accessible training and education to all Harford County residents. The new workforce training center provides another venue for those unable to travel to the College’s main campus.
Harford Community College offers workforce and career training at its main campus in Bel Air, at Harford’s Leading Edge Training Center Powered by the Ratcliffe Foundation at the Edgewood Boys and Girls Clubs, and now at Harford's new Workforce Training Center at Water's Edge in Belcamp.
