Harford Community College Actors Guild to Perform Radium Girls

04 October 2023

Radium Girls by D.W. Gregory will be presented by The Actors Guild of Harford Community College, November 3-5 and November 10-12 at the Blackbox Theater in Joppa Hall on campus.

The story begins in 1926, when radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie was an international celebrity, and luminous watches were the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court in what would be one of the most important worker’s rights cases in history. Called a powerful and engrossing drama by critics, Radium Girls offers an unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science.

General seating is $8 to $12. To purchase tickets, call 443.412.2211, stop by the Ticket Office in Darlington Hall, or visit harfordevents.com. For disability-related accommodations, please call 443.412.2211 at least two weeks in advance.

This play is produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing Company, Woodstock, IL.
