Local Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Inducts New Members

Harford Community College’s Rho Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the International Honor Society of two-year colleges, inducted new members into the Honor Society in a ceremony on April 19 in the College’s Chesapeake Theater. Previous inductees who could not attend any other in-person ceremony, as well as fall 2021 inductees and spring 2022 inductees, were invited to participate.

The Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. To be eligible for membership, a student must have completed 12 credit hours at Harford and have a cumulative GPA of 3.2.

The ceremony opened with a greeting from Shreeyam Mishra, President of Harford’s Rho Beta Chapter, and a warm welcome from Dr. Theresa B. Felder, Harford Community College’s President. Jennifer Wilcox, PTK Advisor and Assistant Professor of Chemistry, was the faculty speaker, and Julia Halliwell, Student Government Association President and PTK Member, was the guest speaker.

Officers of the Rho Beta Chapter of PTK are Shreeyam Mishra, President; Olivia Borkowski-Johnson, Vice President of Scholarship; and Lauren Carbaugh, Vice President of Public Relations and Social Media.
