Johnson Receives MAACCE Support Staff Award

03 June 2021

Beth Johnson, Intake & Assessment Specialist at Harford Community College, has been named the recipient of the annual Maryland Association for Adult, Community and Continuing Education (MAACCE) Support Staff Award. The MAACCE Support Staff Award recognizes support staff who contribute significantly to their local program in terms of maintaining the daily efficient operation of the program.

Outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of adult education are recognized each year at MAACCE’s spring conference. This year’s conference was held May 20-21 virtually. The names of all the nominees for MAACCE Awards were included in a slide show and award recipients were showcased as well.

Beth began her career at Harford in 2017 as a Teacher’s Aide in the Adult Literacy Program and quickly moved up to teaching math and taking on the added responsibility of advisor. She began her current position as Intake & Assessment Specialist in 2018.

She implemented significant changes in the programming and service delivery that caused a 16% increase in enrollment during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, Beth worked relentlessly to ensure each student had an opportunity to participate in the College's Adult Literacy Program.
