Alicia Richardson

About
Alicia Richardson grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan, before beginning her journey as
a mathematics major at Morgan State University. She later earned her M.S. in Mathematics
from Howard University.
For Alicia, mathematics is more than just a subject. It is a way of thinking, solving
problems, and making sense of the world. Her passion for mathematics naturally led
her to teaching, where she has enjoyed helping students discover they are capable
of doing mathematics, even when they may not initially see themselves as “math people.”
Alicia began teaching at Morgan State University in 2015 and has taught a wide range
of mathematics courses, including developmental mathematics, algebra, precalculus,
trigonometry, and statistics.
As an educator, Alicia strives to create a classroom where mathematics feels approachable,
relevant, and connected to students’ academic and career goals. She believes that
students learn best when they feel supported, encouraged to ask questions, and given
opportunities to build confidence through problem-solving. She is excited to bring
her love of mathematics and student-centered approach to Harford Community College.
