Doylestown has three of Bucks County’s five castles, an impressive belt of historical attractions known as the Mercer Mile. Henry Chapman Mercer’s former home, Fonthill Castle, includes 44 rooms, more than 6,000 books and 18 fireplaces! Six floors of history await you at the Mercer Museum, which features 40,000 artifacts on display from the Industrial Revolution. A tile maker at heart, Mercer also built the Tileworks next door to his home. Today, it is a "working museum" that produces handmade tiles and mosaics. Fees include round-trip transportation from Harford Community College and admission tickets. A boxed lunch will be provided.

For a fantastic panoramic view of the New York Harbor, join us on a visit to the Pedestal. There are 215 steps or approximately 10 stories to climb to the top of the pedestal, but there is an elevator if you need it. Your ticket also includes admission to the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration. Meals are on your own at concession stands located on both islands. Adjacent to the Gettysburg battlefield, the farm served as a weekend retreat and meeting place for world leaders. Tour the home and grounds before returning to the Gettysburg Visitor Center. There will be time for lunch on your own inside the Visitor Center or a visit to the gift shop. Difficulty:

Leisurely day. You can board a bus, climb one flight of stairs, walk unassisted at a relaxed pace for up to 60 minutes without difficulty.

Slightly challenging. Likely walking two to three miles over the course of the day, on a variety of terrains with rest breaks.

On the go. You can handle standing for long periods of time, are able to walk about four to five miles during the trip and are comfortable climbing into/out of various modes of transportation.

Physically active. During this trip, you will likely walk 8,000–10,000 steps. You must be comfortable with long periods of standing or walking on uneven terrain and steep slopes.
