Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Learn to provide patients hands-on care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), this program enables graduates to apply for certification as a CNA with the MBON and to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination to be certified as a GNA.

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the 2016 median pay for Certified Nursing Assistants in Maryland was $29,700 per year. Employment is expected to grow 17% from 2014-2024, faster than the national average.


  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
  • Math (ACA) and Reading (ACR) Assessments; available at the Test Center
  • Health Assessment, including immunization record
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification

Required Courses:

  • Nursing Assistant Theory
  • Nursing Assistant Clinical
