Need help paying for workforce development programs?

Harford Community College offers several opportunities to obtain scholarships, tuition assistance and payment plans for those looking to increase their earning potential, upgrade job skills, secure a license or certification, or advance their career.

GEER II Funding 

A second round of career and workforce funding was recently made available through the Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund. Tuition scholarships, exam vouchers, and book awards will be offered to those interested in certification and licensure programs to retrain, upskill, start or advance their career.

The following programs are currently eligible for GEER II funding: Cybersecurity Certification (A+/Net+/Sec+)  |  Welding  |  HVAC/R  |  Veterinary Assistant Certification   |  SHRM Human Resource Management  |  Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)  |  Certified Ethical Hacker  |  CompTIA Linux+  |  Security+ Review

Phillip E. & Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Scholarships 

The Philip E. & Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Scholarships are available to those enrolled in career and workforce programs at Harford's Leading Edge Training Center Powered by the Ratcliffe Foundation. This new facility is located in Edgewood, Maryland and shares space with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties. The following certificate programs are currently eligible for the full-tuition scholarships: Heavy Equipment Operations  |  Warehousing, Supply Chain, and Logistics.

Scholarships and Funding Opportunities

GEER funding helps those enrolling in specific certificate or licensure programs. Awards are distributed in the form of scholarships, achievement stipends, exam vouchers, and money for materials and supplies.

The Philip E. & Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Scholarships are available to those enrolled in career and workforce programs at Harford's Leading Edge Training Center Powered by the Ratcliffe Foundation*.

Full tuition scholarships are currently available for the programs indicated below. Each consists of multiple courses that run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, NOV 2– Spring 2022. Courses must be taken in order and students must register for the complete program to be eligible for a scholarship.

• Heavy Equipment Operations– Enhanced Site Work & Soils

The following Workforce Development programs are approved as eligible for
Maryland's Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship:
A+ Certification | Certified Nursing Assistant | Culinary Technician | Drone Technology | Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) | Heavy Equipment Operator | HVAC | Nurse Refresher | Paramedic and Phlebotomy Technician

This state funded scholarship is available to Maryland residents or graduates of a Maryland High School that are registering for an approved Workforce Development program—both new and current students may apply. Up to $2,000.00 per fiscal year can be awarded. Applications are reviewed in the order received and based on available funding.

This College funded scholarship is awarded based on financial need and available for those students completing a Workforce Development Program. Funds will cover tuition and fees. Applications are reviewed in the order received and based on available funding.

This scholarship is available to students that are accepted into the HCC Paramedic Program and meet the eligibility requirement. One scholarship is awarded per cohort, up to $5,000.00. Funds can be used for tuition, fees, textbooks and program associated costs.

This scholarship is available to Harford County residents applying to a Workforce Development Program. Must be able to demonstrate you are a graduate of Harford County Public Schools OR have earned your GED in Harford County, and received a 2.75 GPA or higher from a HCPS. Funds can be used for tuition, fees, textbooks and program associated costs. Scholarship is in the amount of $500.00 and one is awarded per year.

Harford Community College offers a payment plan that allows you to make monthly payments with a minimum balance of $500 in tuition and course fees for a Workforce Development program.
