The Business Management Administrative Professions Certificate is designed to enable students to obtain knowledge, skills, and competencies in the challenging business field of administrative professions. Students completing the certificate in Administrative Professions are able to combine the credits earned to complete an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Business Management degree to satisfy their individual career goals.
Courses are designed to align with the competencies identified by the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). Students who successfully complete the program are prepared to pursue certifications recommended by IAAP in Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) and Certified Professional Secretary (CPS).
According to the 2016-2017 Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment of administrative professionals is expected to grow 3% through 2024, which will add approximately 118,000 new positions to the career field. Opportunities should be best for applicants with extensive knowledge of computer software applications.
The Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) initiative is expected to have a major impact upon available administrative professions positions in the Harford County region. Administrative professions positions have experienced a 34% salary increase in the past several years.
The Administrative Professions lab is located in Joppa Hall room 002. The lab includes desktop computers as well as laptop computers and additional technologies utilized in today’s business organizations.
