"First and Next,” an exhibition by Jade Hoyer, will be on display in the Chesapeake Gallery located in the Student Center at Harford Community College from November 16, 2017 to January 5, 2018. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, November 16, from 5:30 to 7 PM in the Gallery. The public is invited to meet the artist, enjoy light refreshments, and visit the exhibition.

"In my artwork I draw upon the visual languages of systems, including charts, symbols, repetition, and color-coding. I reflect upon race, privilege, and intersectionality (sociologist Kimberle Crenshaw’s research that experiences associated with race, gender, class, etc., cumulatively inform one another) and address social issues. My artwork is my means to make sense of the world and its fallacies; it is also my means to change it," stated artist Jade Hoyer.

In the exhibition at the Chesapeake Gallery, Jade Hoyer plans to address educational issues based at the community college level.

The Chesapeake Gallery is open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 7 PM, and Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
