Harford Community College will hold a Military and Veterans Appreciation Night at the APGFCU Arena at HCC on Friday, November 10. This event will honor local service members of the United States Armed Forces and their families.

The event includes a basketball doubleheader: HCC Fighting Owls women vs Harcum College at 5:30 PM and HCC men vs Harcum College at 7:30 PM. Prior to the start of the men’s game, a Military Color Guard will arrive and the military and veterans will be acknowledged and thanked for their service to our country. Screech, HCC’s mascot, will be on hand to help build spirit and get the crowd ready for some great basketball. In addition, the “Hoppin’ Hawks” precision jump rope team will perform during halftime.

Before the start of the men’s game, HCC will present pins honoring their service to all HCC military and veteran students. HCC military and veteran students are also invited to a reception beginning at 6:45 PM on the upper concourse, where they will have a chance to win several door prizes. The reception and door prizes are sponsored by the Military and Veterans Committee at HCC. To be eligible for prizes, one must be a veteran, active duty, reservist, or National Guard member. Dependents who are currently using VA educational benefits at HCC also qualify; they must have attended Harford during the 2017 calendar year. One must be present to win.

Basketball tickets are $10 each for adults (general public) and $5 for students (ages 17 and under); visit the Box Office at the Arena on game night or purchase in advance at tickets.harford.edu. Anyone with a valid military ID will receive free admission for themselves and a guest to the doubleheader. Tickets are free for students with a valid HCC ID.

The event is sponsored by Harford Community College’s Military and Veterans Committee and Athletics Department.
