Do you shop at Amazon? Whether you are a frequent shopper or just the occasional one, this is an easy, seamless way to support the College at no expense to you. AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon.com that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile the AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to your choice of charitable organizations.
On your first visit to AmazonSmile, type in Harford Community College Foundation as your charity. AmazonSmile will remember your selection each time you shop and will in turn make a donation a donation. Start today. Pennies turn into dollars and those dollars quickly add up.
Did you know that a matching gift could double your support to Harford Community College? Many corporations will match an employee's donation to an eligible nonprofit organization, most often dollar for dollar. These gifts are an important source of revenue for the programs, services and scholarships available to Harford students. Many companies also provide grants as a way to recognize their employees who volunteer for a specific organization
Check with your company's human resources department to find out if they match gifts or volunteer hours. If they do, (65% of Fortune 500 companies offer matching gift programs) simply complete and submit the form to your employer. You will be notified when the Foundation receives a matching gift in your name.
Did you know there are creative ways to support the Harford Community College Foundation? Ways in which the Harford Community College Foundation, you and your loved ones all benefit at the same time? Such giving techniques are called "planned gifts," because with thoughtful planning, you create win-win solutions for you and Harford Community College Foundation. Some examples of planned gifts include naming the Foundation in your will or naming it as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan. Looking for ways to sell securities without facing capital gains tax? You can transfer your appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares that you have owned for more than one year to the Harford Community College Foundation. The Foundations will then sell the securities and use the proceeds to fund our programs. Donors receive an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities, you pay no capital gains tax when the stock is sold, and the "cost" of your gift is often less than the deduction you gain by making it!
