Care Team

By partnering with members of the community, the Care Team strives to promote individual student well-being and success while prioritizing community safety.

What is Care Team?

The campus Care Team at Harford Community College engages in proactive and collaborative approaches to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with students exhibiting concerning behaviors or expressing concerning thoughts that may pose a threat to the campus community.

Goals of Care Team:

  • Engage in a collaborative process to develop the most appropriate policies and procedures governing the team's operations, including a provision regarding the frequency of team meetings
  • Determine the most appropriate systems, both inside and outside the institution, for addressing and assessing students of concern
  • Review the results of its assessments to monitor any trends and evaluate the team's performance
  • Recommend to and notify the President's Cabinet of potential actions needed to maintain a safe community consistent with college policies and procedures
  • Assess the situation to determine level of threat to self or others

Emergency Situations

Call 911 and the Department of Public Safety, 443-412-2272, if the physical safety of a student, yourself, or others is of immediate concern.


Referral Form for Concerning Behavior

Communicate with the SIP team and make them aware of any concerns or suspicions you may have about a particular individual's behavior. There is no penalty for reporting. In fact, the SIP team wants to hear about behavior that causes anyone worry or concern.
