Grants also known as "gift aid" is typically aid that does not need to be repaid and is given to students who demonstrate financial need.

These grants are funded from many different sources, including:

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

All students must complete their FAFSA Application at in order to be considered for both federal and state aid eligibility.  For the 2020-2021 academic year, students will use income information from 2018.


Federal Aid Grants

Most popular programs include, the Federal Pell Grant, which has a maximum award of $6,345 annually for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Year-Round Pell Grant

Students eligible for the Pell Grant may be able to receive a third disbursement of the Pell grant during the same academic year.  Students must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits) for the summer semester.

Maryland Need Based Grants

Over $100 million in need-based grants and merit scholarships through the state’s 22 programs is awarded each year.
