Disability Support Services

Disability Support Services is dedicated to helping students with documented disabilities access all of the educational opportunities and services offered by the College.

There are significant differences in how students obtain accommodations in college than in high school. Academic accommodations are not automatically put in place; students must be self advocates and request services.  Students who wish to obtain accommodations for their classes must:

  1. make an appointment for an orientation to Disability Support Services (DSS) by calling 443-412-2402 or visiting DSS in the Student Center
  2. set up an orientation appointment for a time after they have secured documentation of their disability
  3. complete orientation and submit current documentation from a qualified professional that meets our HCC guidelines
  4. schedule an appointment with DSS to obtain accommodation memos
  5. set up a meeting with their instructors to provide each instructor with these memos

Parents and family members of students with disabilities are invited to participate in a Parent 101 session where a representative from Disability Support Services will be available.

Appointments are required for DSS Orientations and to pick up Accommodation Memos. Students are accepted on a walk-in basis as advisors are available; there may be times when no advisors are available.
