Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco
Harford Community College is dedicated to maintaining an
educational environment in which students may be prepared for an enriched
and productive participation in society, and thus enhance the quality of
community life. The College is committed to providing a campus that is free
of illegal drug use, and drug and alcohol abuse, and in so doing, supports
the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989. The Drug Free Schools
and Communities Act states that the use of illegal drugs and the abuse of
alcohol by students and campus members can significantly impede the learning
process.
The College recognizes drug and alcohol abuse as an
illness and a major health problem. The College also recognizes drug and
alcohol abuse as a potential safety and security problem. Therefore, the
College Life and Wellness office offers a number of educational programs
throughout the year to encourage awareness among students, faculty, and
staff about the hazards of drug and alcohol abuse.
Harford Community College is a Tobacco Free campus.
Smoking or use of smokeless tobacco anywhere on the grounds of the College is strictly prohibited.
Violators are subject to a $50. fine and/or disciplinary action.
