The College President, the Board of Trustees, and the employees of Harford Community College invite you to participate in the College's fifty-fourth annual Commencement ceremony to be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 6:00 p.m.  This prestigious event will occur under a tent on the parking lot adjacent to Aberdeen Hall (the “A” Lot).  There will be a reception immediately following the ceremony.  Take a moment to carefully read the following important information regarding Commencement.

Graduation Requirements
August 2011 and December 2011 graduates received prior notification regarding the status of their degree or certificate and have met all graduation requirements. May 2012 candidates must have applied for graduation by the March 1, 2012, application deadline and received confirmation of their intent to graduate.

Important - Reserve Your Place at Commencement
It is important that we know whether you are planning to attend the Commencement ceremony.  Graduates do not need tickets to participate in the event, but you must register.  Contact the College Life Office at 443-412-2140.  Only those attending need to reserve their spot.  Those who do not plan to attend do not need to take any action.

Guests
Guests do not need tickets and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Guests may begin arriving at 4:00 p.m. and must be seated by 5:45 p.m.

Individuals with Disabilities
Sign Language Interpreters for the deaf and hard of hearing will be present.  Due to the large numbers of guests attending Commencement, it is recommended that guests with disabilities plan to arrive at least one hour prior to the ceremony.  We recommend guests with disabilities park in Lot 4 or Lot L (located near the Library).  Guests with disabled license plates or a disability placard will have access to designated disability parking spaces on a first-come, first served basis.  For disability-related issues, contact Disability Support Services at 443-412-2402 or TTY 443-412-2199 by Friday, May 4, 2012.

Academic Regalia - Your Cap and Gown
Your academic regalia has been ordered and purchased for you.  This year's student regalia is made of recycled products.  For every gown purchased, a $0.25 donation was made to an on campus sustainability program.  Following the ceremony you will be able to recycle your gown or retain it as a keepsake.  You may pick up your cap, gown, tassel, and hood from the College Store on the lower level of the Student Center May 7 through May 16.  Only candidates with regalia will be permitted to walk in the Commencement ceremony.  If you need replacement regalia the day of the ceremony, your account will be charged up to $35.  If you fail to RSVP and want to participate in the ceremony, you may do so, but you will be charged $35 for the regalia.  This debt will need to be paid before you receive your diploma.
