Enrollment Process for 2013 High School Graduates

Enrollment process for students who are not recent high school graduates.
Step Number
Student Is Required To…..
How To….
1 Submit an Application to HCC

(Students under the age of 16 must contact the Coordinator for Admissions at 443-412-2379)

2   Submit an official copy of your high school transcript to HCC

  • For high school transcripts visit your high school counseling office
  • Submit to the Registration and Records Office in the upper level of the Student Center
  • For the most up-to-date hours or mailing address visit the Registration and Records page

3 Get your HCC photo identification card

Find out which valid forms of identification are accepted.

Complete the iPlan Overview

Option 1: Self-Paced (Available through 8/1/13)
  • Students can complete the iPlan overview at their own pace
  • Students can complete the overview wherever internet access is available.
  • The online overview is located in OwlNet under the My First Semester tab.
  • For students who do not have a My First Semester tab please click here for the online overview (must have your OwlNet username and password)
Option 2: Group (Available through 8/29/13)

Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for financial aid, or receive more information on scholarships or grants visit the financial aid page.

Submit Eligible Official SAT/ACT Scores


OR



Complete the Academic Skills Assessment
Students who meet ANY of the following criteria are exempt from a portion of, or all, of the Academic Skills Assessment test. Students should submit their official SAT scores to the Registration and Records Office:

You are exempt from WRITING and READING if you meet one of the following conditions:
  • SAT Critical Reading Score is 550 or higher
  • ACT Writing Score is 21 or higher
  • Passed English Composition (English 101)

You are exempt from MATH if you meet one of the following conditions:
  • SAT Math Score is 550 or higher
  • ACT Math Score is 21 or higher
  • Passed College Level Math course

You are exempt from ALL ASSESSMENTS if you meet the following condition:
  • Have earned an Associate or Baccalaureate degree (Transcript required)
Students who do not have one or both eligible SAT/ACT scores in English and/or Math must complete the academic skills assessment (ASA) The ASA may be completed during the ASA Walk-In Hours. Please visit the testing center page for the most up-to-date schedule

Register for my PowerUP! Orientation

(mandatory)
  • Register for ONE PowerUP! Orientation Date online through your OwlNet account by clicking the My First Semester tab:
  • PowerUP! Orientation dates are:

  • August 8th , 9th, 15th, 16th each is scheduled 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Complete your Academic Plan with your Academic Advisor

  • Students will meet with an advisor to complete an academic plan, discuss career goals and select appropriate courses for registration, and be shown how to register for classes online
  • Advising, Career & Transfer Services is located on the upper-level of the Student Center. Please visit the advising home page prior to your visit for the most up-to-date walk-in advising hours
  • Please bring copies of your transcripts to your Advising session.

  • Click on the My Academic Life tab at the top of the page
  • Click on Register, Add or Drop Classes on the left hand side
