Student ID Card Information

HCC ID Card 

All HCC credit students and employees should have an ID card. You are not required to get a new card every semester. You will only need to get an ID card when you are a new credit student or if you have never been issued one before.

Your ID card provides proof of your status as a credit student or employee at the College.
 


To obtain an ID card, please visit the Circulation Desk at the Library or call 443-412-2268.

Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 10:00pm
Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm
Saturday 10:00am - 5:00pm
Sunday 12:00pm - 4:00pm

When do I get my student ID card?

After you receive your acceptance letter from the Registration and Records office, you then must complete the Student Photo ID process.  Exemptions are available in rare cases.  See the iPlan enrollment process for more details about when to obtain your ID.

How do I get my student ID card?

Upon acceptance at HCC, you are issued a Student Identification Number (H-ID number).  You will need to provide your H-ID number and one of the following as proof of identification:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid State MVA Identification Card
  • Valid Government Identification (Military, Civilian, Dependent, Retired)
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Current Work Photo Identification
  • Current Photo Identification from another college
  • Valid Permanent Resident Card
  • Valid Employment Authorization Card
  • Valid Visa or Passport from a country outside the U.S.
  • Valid Driver's License from a country outside the U.S.

The following are not acceptable as proof of identification:

  • Amusement park passes with photos
  • Credit card with photograph
  • High School ID card

Where do I get my student ID card?

You can get your ID card at the Circulation Desk in the Library.  Typical semester hours for the Library are:

Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Friday,  7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

When do I use it?

You need your student ID card at all times while on campus or off campus at any HCC sponsored event.  Failure to process or furnish your ID card upon the request of the HCC Department of Public Safety, or any other College official, is a Student Code of Conduct violation.

The student ID card is required to access HCC facilities and functions such as the Test Center; Tutoring Center; Registration and Records; Financial Aid; Advising, Career, Transfer, and Disability Services; Recreation and Fitness Facilities (some restrictions apply); Student Activities; and Library Services.

How does the debit feature of my student ID card work?


Since your HCC ID card is also a debit card, you must maintain a balance if you wish to make any purchases.

  • You can add money to your account ($10 minimum) at the Cashier's Office, located on the first floor of the Student Center.
  • The money you put on your card can be used at the Globe Cafe, Joppa Cafe, College Store, in select vending machines on campus, and to pay for Library fines or College Life activities at the Cashier's Office.
  • Funds available on the student ID card can only be used while you are an active student.  Any balance not used is forfeited.
  • You cannot withdraw cash from your card.

Allowing someone else to use your card or using someone else's card is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action and/or suspension of your ID card privileges.

What if I lose my ID card?
If you lose your HCC ID card, immediately contact the Cashier’s Office, 443-412-2208, to deactivate your card. If the Cashier's Office is closed, contact the Department of Public Safety at 443-412-2041. If you have cash on your card and use it as a debit card, it could be used by anyone until such notification is made.

Is there a cost for my student ID card?
Your initial ID card is Free. Replacement cost for lost cards is $15.
