Harford Leadership Academy
Application Process for 2013 Class
The Harford Leadership Academy encourages the attendance
of mid- to upper-level management personnel who have:
- The goal of providing leadership in the community
- An interest in accepting new and rewarding challenges
- Demonstrated leadership skills and desire to learn more
about Harford County
Candidates should submit a one-page (one-side)
application on plain paper, to
vcyran@harford.edu, including the following:
- Name
- Home address
- Business address
- Company/organization
- Title/position
- E-mail address
- Phone (work and home)
- List of past community involvement
(indicate if in a
leadership role)
- List of current community involvement
(indicate if in
a leadership role)
- Statement as to why you would like to attend the
Academy
- List two business references with phone numbers
- Photo, passport size (jpg format)
Please review Program
Information to ensure that you will be able to attend
the program sessions, including a casual dinner which will allow
participants to meet each other prior to the start of the
program.
Applications accepted beginning
June 15 through January 15.
Enrollment is generally limited to thirty-six adult participants.
The cost of the Academy is $675 per person, payable upon
notification of acceptance. The SBDC offers a full scholarship to a
small business owner/operator that meets SBA definition for minority
business ( African-American, Alaska Native, American Indian, Asian,
Hispanic, Native Hawaiian/ other Pacific Islander.) Limited
scholarships may also be available. Include statement of
need with your application. Please send completed application to

To be eligible, applicants
must live and/or work in Harford County, have demonstrated interest in
volunteerism and the community, exhibit leadership potential, and be able to
attend all sessions.
The selection committee strives for a balanced
representation of adults from small and large businesses, industries,
non-profit organizations, the professions, community
organizations, government agencies and ethnic populations. Upon completion of the Academy,
public recognition of the graduates and a certificate of
achievement will be awarded. If there are more candidates
than openings, a priority waiting list will be prepared for
filling any last-minute vacancies.
