This course taught me that to speak effectively there has to be organization. I find myself organizing my demonstrations now in the same manner, and the students seem to understand more (at least they're asking fewer questions and making better projects!)
This was probably the most difficult course I've taken in HCC so far. Not so difficult as in the complexity of the work, but just to feel comfortable! And I am admittedly someone who isn't a "English class" type of person. But if there is one class that I've taken in my 4 semesters here at HCC (yes, I'm getting my AA degree in Computer Science after this semester), this is definitely the class where I can say, "this class really helped me." You can't really walk away from a history course, or literature course and come away with more confidence, I don't think.
This is by far the best online class I've taken. This has been the hardest class to date that I have taken, and the most rewarding. It is so hard to do well, but when you finally do it's a great feeling.
It helped me get rid of my fear of speaking in front of people. To be honest with you, I think we all became closer with each other and more comfortable with each other because we communicated through email and discussions. I think we may have had a different relationship if we took the class on campus.
What I did like about this class is the intimacy within the group. We had a rather intimate group to give our speeches in front of which made it so much more personal when we were critiquing and ourselves critiquing others.
This class has done quite a bit for me. I don’t know if anyone noticed, but during my first speech, the note cards in my hand were shaking (or I thought they were). My second and third speeches I was not nervous at all. I wouldn’t say I had a fear of speaking, just never really enjoyed it very much, but now that is pretty much gone. The only speeches I’ve ever done before this have been scripted speeches, but I find that the extemporaneous makes it more fluent, and even a little bit less nerve-racking.
This online speech course helped me to brush up on my computer skills, it helped me to get a general idea of how to formulate speeches, and helped me to speak better publicly.
This course has help take the fear out of speaking for me. I have always had speech problems since I was a little girl. I was really scared to take this class. But, it wasn't so bad. I was able to make my speeches in front of my friends and, this made me feel much more relax. I was able to get great feed back.
This class helped me learn that public speakers put a lot and time and effort into making an effective speech! I feel as though I could confidentially speak in front of a group and really make an impact on the majority of the audience. I am more confident about my speaking skills and even more so about developing an speech that is well-supported and makes sense.
This speech online class has taught me that I can work by my self and that I will definitely take other online classes again. It has also taught the proper ways to address an audience. It also gave me some confidence.
This course has given me so much confidence about making speeches. I never thought I could feel comfortable speaking in front of a group, but now I feel much more relaxed. I've also learned being prepared is a big part of being confident. Feeling comfortable with the topic makes it easier to talk about. And I've been using the outline formats for presentations I'm making in other classes. The outlines have helped me organize my thoughts and make a more focused presentation.
This class has definitely improved my ability to speak in public, I like to listen and I enjoy stimulating conversation but I had no idea that speaking in front of a group would be this difficult. It has taught me organization and time management traits that were my weak points before taking this class.
