Hybrid Classes (CMST 105 & ENG 216)

Interpersonal Communication
      Course Objectives       Course Topics

This course is intended for those students who are interested in trying an online college course but are concerned about missing out on the traditional classroom interaction.

A Hybrid course means you will split your normal in-class time each week into part online and part in class. You will be learning the course material by reading the textbook and participating in online discussions.  We will be using the online course platform as more of a communication tool, a place for groups to discuss the main writing and research project, as well as a place to discuss the textbook material.

Class time will be used for items such as additional discussion, activities, and course material summaries, rather than a reiteration of all of the chapter material.  We will meet one day a week for 80 minutes.

I would suggest taking this course only if you are a self-motivator, learn well by reading the course materials, and have good online communication skills.

ENG 216

Business Communication

This course is intended for those students who are interested in trying an online college course but are concerned about missing out on the traditional classroom interaction.

A Hybrid course means you will split your normal in-class time each week into part online and part in class. You will be learning the course material by reading the textbook and participating in online discussions.  We will be using the online course platform as more of a communication tool, a place for groups to discuss the main writing and research project, as well as a place to discuss the textbook material.

Class time will be used for items such as additional discussion, practice, reviews, rewrites, and course material summaries, rather than a reiteration of all of the chapter material.  We will probably meet for only the first half of the evening on Tuesdays, but stay for the entire time scheduled on some class nights.  It will depend on teaching and learning needs.

I would suggest taking this course only if you are a self-motivator, learn well by reading the course materials, and have good online communication skills.
