Adult Basic Education (ABE)

Improve your reading, writing, and math skills.

ABE I Classes - Free

  • Reading skills for the beginning reader
  • Basic math skills
  • Skills for everyday living
  • Individualized and group instruction
  • Two evenings a week

ABE II Classes - Free

  • Review of reading, writing, and math skills
  • Life skills
  • Meets two mornings or evenings a week for seven weeks 

PreGED® Classes - Free

  • Intermediate math, science, social studies, reading, and writing skills
  • Meets two evenings a week for 12 weeks
  • Accelerated course is available
  • Need to have qualifying scores on assessments

Adults must be 16 or older and officially withdrawn from school to enroll in ABE or GED classes or one-on-one tutoring.

This program is supported by federal and state funds granted by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
