The College needs volunteers in various capacities across campus. Volunteers serve as ushers, taking tickets, distributing programs, and assisting patrons to their seats at cultural events and performances at the Amoss Center and Chesapeake Theater. Backstage assistance is needed with set construction, painting, and costumes. If you are interested, contact Susan Nicolaides at 443-412-2340 or email@example.com.
Volunteer opportunities also exist for ushers, ticket takers and scanners, and general customer service support at sporting and other events held at the APG Federal Credit Union Arena. Those interested in serving as game-day/event volunteers may contact Ken Krsolovic at
443-412-2303 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteer docents work at events and exhibits at the Hays-Heighe House and provide tours of the historical site. Interested parties may contact Carol Allen at 443-412-2144 or email@example.com.
Classroom volunteers assist the Literacy Education department by working in Adult Basic Education (ABE) or English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, which are held at locations throughout Harford County. Classes meet two evenings or mornings a week for 2-1/2 hours per session. Day classes meet in Aberdeen and Edgewood. Volunteers may serve in one or two class sessions per week. No specialized training is necessary, but new volunteers are encouraged to attend an orientation session which will be held prior to the start of the semester.
One-on-one tutors attend a ten-hour training workshop to become certified to tutor an adult in beginning reading and writing skills. Tutoring sessions are scheduled at locations and times convenient for both tutor and student. Tutors and students usually meet once or twice a week for one to two hours per session. The College supplies books and materials for use by the tutors and students. For more information about Literacy Education volunteer opportunities and to register for the orientation or training workshop, contact Debbie Gordon at 443-412-2115 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteer opportunities are available providing on-air or office support of the College’s radio station, WHFC 91.1 FM. Contact Station Manager Gary Helton at 443-412-2151 or email@example.com.
