“Works by William Ruller and Stephanie Serpick”
September 23 – November 8, 2019
Opening Reception: Monday, September 23, 12:30 – 2PM
The Chesapeake Gallery is proud to be hosting a two-person exhibition that blends together the mixed media book works of William Ruller, with the oil paintings of Stephanie Serpick, for an experience overlapping with themes of loss, abandonment, loneliness and change. Through use of color, texture, composition, subject matter and craftsmanship, both artists create intimate works of art which offer a viewing experience that is both engaging and self-reflective in nature. While Ruller’s works are inspired by the colors, textures and emotions found amongst deserted mills and tanneries, Serpick’s work is inspired by issues of personal loss and loneliness. She states, “The empty bed in these paintings represents a place for grief, depression or isolation. As such, the work speaks to our shared feeling of grief, with the understanding that while we all suffer in our individual ways, suffering is universal.” Come visit the Chesapeake Gallery to experience these great works for yourself.
