Proposal Submission Form

The symposium is a curricular and co-curricular activity that celebrates the creative and scholarly work (artwork, oral presentations, performances, posters, poetry, readings, etc.) of HCC students from all disciplines.

Proposals of no more than 300 words should include a description of a creative or scholarly work completed during the 2016-2017 academic year to qualify.

Types of Presentations

Oral Presentations:

Students can submit proposals for a ten-minute presentation for their creative and scholarly work.


Students can submit proposals for a poster that will be on display for the entire day and be available to present/discuss the poster during the symposium (11:30 AM – 1:30 PM).

Submission Criteria

  1. Students must submit proposals by 5:00PM on March 24, 2017.
  2. Students must submit a maximum 300- word count abstract for scholarly work (either a presentation or poster). An abstract that exceeds this limit will not be considered.
  3. Students must submit a proposal for creative work.
    1. Creative work that is five pages or fewer, student must submit the entire piece.
    2. Creative work that exceeds five pages, students must submit a summary and an excerpt; the two together are not to exceed five pages total.
  4. Students are expected to present their work(s) in person during the symposium once their abstract is accepted.
