Frequently Asked Questions

What is A+ Certification?

A+ Certification is the recognized industry-wide PC Service Technician credential. A+ Certification validates the student’s expertise in repairing and maintaining PCs.

This marketable certification is a must when employers seek PC Technicians to support and maintain equipment in today’s diverse network environment. And when you get your certification through A+ preparatory courses at Harford Community College, you’ll have obtained a skill level and depth of knowledge to successfully pass your exam and to confidently perform in a business environment.

Why should I get certified?

It helps students get a foot in the door with either a prospective employer or client. It lets others know your achievement level, and many employers may use certification as either a condition for employment or reward certifications earned with job advancement or promotions.

Upon obtaining your certification, you can qualify for a number of positions depending upon your background:

PC Maintenance Technician I

$28,092-$37,342

PC Maintenance Technician II

Time for completion of this program varies depending on when courses are taken.

What are the A+ Requirements?

The A+ exams are written by CompTIA (Computer Technology Industry Association), and testing is administered by various centers in the Country .
