Each November, Harford Community College joins institutions from 100 countries around the world in celebrating International Education Week. It is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to showcase the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This annual initiative, first held in 2000, aims to promote international understanding and build support for international educational exchange by encouraging the development of programs that prepare Americans to live and work in a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States.
Past IEW events at HCC have included a film discussion series, presentations by professionals from Iran and Russia, and international art show in the Student Gallery, a campus-wide luncheon featuring food prepared from family recipes submitted by many of our international students, and a Global IQ contest throughout the week in the Library.
Find out more about IEW at Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The MSA supports all efforts toward a greater understanding of cultures and an overall greater appreciation of the cultural diversity.
As part of the International Education Initiative at Harford Community College, the international flags were added to campus in 2001. The flags represent the countries of origin of our international students, faculty and staff. The flags are changed each year to reflect the growth of our diverse campus community. Currently, flags from forty eight countries line the walkways from the main entrance of the Library leading to the Student Center and academic buildings on the Quad.
